COG Design Online Auction begins April 3, 2014
Looking for a private garden consultation? A specimen tree? Or maybe a classic teak bench to place in your garden? Then prepare to bid early and often at the 10th  annual In the Garden online auction at, April 3-9. All proceeds are used to build and improve neighborhood gardens and parks throughout greater Boston. 
In the Garden offers specialty goods and services for the discerning gardener and attracts great interest and spirited bidding. Among the prized offerings this year are a winter-proof Lunaform planter, specialty seeds and tools, organic compost, and massage gift certificates for the achy gardener! Retail values for auction selections range from $30 to $1,000 – something for every budget. 
COGdesign provides pro bono landscape design and maintenance services for underserved communities in eastern Massachusetts. In the past 15 years, COGdesign has completed more than 90 landscape designs for clients ranging from affordable housing to historic sites to neighborhood parks. On March 27, 2014, Friends of Fairsted will present a lecture by Robert Yaro entitled “The Shaping of Regions, The New York Regional Plan and the Origins of Planning in America.” Yaro will discuss how regional thinking - an integrated approach to infrastructure growth, economic development, and environmental protection, has influenced growth and change in the Northeast. He will discuss how the visionary thinking of early leaders in the field, including Frederick Law Olmsted Jr., contributed original planning solutions to enhance the quality of life in both urban and suburban settings.

NELDHA and the Massachusetts Horticultural Society are pleased to sponsor a lecture by award winning landscape designer Julie Moir Messervy at Elm Bank in Wellesley, Massachusetts on January 23, 2014 at 6:30 p.m. Messervy, an entertaining and inspiring lecturer, will talk about her new book Landscaping Ideas That Work. A wine and cheese reception will precede the lecture at 5:30 p.m. Books will be available for purchase and signing.

ELA Symposium Managing Large-Scale Landscapes Sustainably

Join ELA and Wellesley College for a symposium on the development and maintenance of large-scale landscapes that utilize fewer inputs, are designed and maintained with the environment in mind, and become more sustainable over time. Experts who work daily in successful, sustainable large-scale landscapes will lead four panel discussions.

Mass Hort and NELDHA Lecture a Great Success!

NELDHA and the Massachusetts Horticultural Society's co-sponsored  lecture by award winning landscape designer Julie Moir Messervy on January 23, 2014 sold out! The audience enjoyed a wine and cheese reception and an opportunity to chat and mingel with fellow guests. Messervy, always entertaining and inspiring, shared ideas and images from her new book, Landscaping Ideas that Work. Raffle winners took home great landscape related prizes.
