FIELD TRIP Sunday, October 17, 2:00 to 4:00 pm

The Minute Man National Historical Park

Lexington, Lincoln, Concord

 

Lou Sideris, Chief of Planning and Communications at Minute Man, will give us a guided tour of three areas (Hartwell Tavern, Miriam’s Corner, and the Buttrick Garden) and will speak on:

  • Current Landscape Restoration of the 5 mile long Battle Road Trail  and adjoining fields (goals and methods of restoration and maintenance)
  • Future restoration of the Major John Buttrick House garden

Lou is currently working on a landscape project to restore historic farm fields in the park and collaborating on a management plan update which will guide the park’s Battle Road unit for the next twenty years.

Meet: At the Hartwell Tavern parking lot at 2:00 PM.

Directions: use Google maps – fill in for "destination" -  104 N. Great Rd. Lincoln, MA.  Also helpful is Minute Man NPS website map link found at http://www.nps.gov/mima/. 

Reserve: Members $10/ Nonmembers $15. Send a check made out to NELDHA to Karen Falb, 245 Brattle Street, Cambridge, MA by October 15.
