forest hills 310

NELDHA is pleased to announce that it is holding its Fall Reception on November 19, 2014, at Massachusetts Horticultural Society at Elm Bank in Wellesley, Massachusetts.  A reception featuring wine, beer, tea and coffee will precede a lecture by noted historian Anthony Mitchell Sammarco. The lecture is on Forest Hills Cemetery in Boston, an iconic and well preserved landscape from the rural garden cemetery movement. The reception begins at 5:30 p.m., followed by the lecture at 6:30 p.m.

NELDHA's Annual Reception was a Great Success

Beautiful weather set the stage for NELDHA's Annual Reception at the historic MIT Endicott House in Dedham, Massachusetts on April 25, 2014. Members and Friends enjoyed  the beautiful grounds and mansion while reconnecting with old friends and meeting new friends.

Our speaker was Director of Cultural Resources for The Trustees of Reservations, Lucinda Brockway. Cindy's talk was Where Do You Fit In?  Landscape Preservation and Design in a Changing World. She spoke about such wide ranging sites Native American mines and burial grounds to the highly designed landscapes of the Golden Age and the challenges facing present day managers.

We wish to thank you to Heidi Kost Gross, Maureen O'Brien and Janis Porter, the Committee who organized the event. Also a special thanks to Heidi Kost Gross, Janis Porter and Lynette Tsiang for their generous donations.

Mass Hort and NELDHA Lecture a Great Success!

NELDHA and the Massachusetts Horticultural Society's co-sponsored  lecture by award winning landscape designer Julie Moir Messervy on January 23, 2014 sold out! The audience enjoyed a wine and cheese reception and an opportunity to chat and mingel with fellow guests. Messervy, always entertaining and inspiring, shared ideas and images from her new book, Landscaping Ideas that Work. Raffle winners took home great landscape related prizes.

A special thank you to the event supporters:

This event would not have been possible without the extraordinary efforts of the following people: Maureen Horn and April Daley from Mass Hort, and Heidi Kost-Gross, Jon Hogan, Maureen O'Brien and Janis Porter from NELDHA.
